Canadian Sports
Canadian Sports is a series of twelve transfer prints depicting Canadian winter sports and pastimes. Canadian Sports wares were made
for the Canadian export market around 1883.
The various scenes originally appeared on a series of Christmas and New Year greetings cards produced by Bennet & Co. of Montreal.
These cards first appeared around 1882 and it is most likely that the pottery series was produced shortly afterwards to take advantage
of the popularity of the greetings cards.
